Disney Media Distribution Latin America continues to expand its programming across the globe, as it stands to produce a local version of the US network's hit series with TV Azteca in Mexico.
As part of The Walt Disney Company Latin America's strategy to distribute its programming worldwide, Disney Media Distribution Latin America is producing high-quality local versions of different formats across the region.
This time, Brothers & Sisters will be co-produced by Disney Media Distribution Latin America and TV Azteca. The scripts will be supervised by Alberto Barreta, who has already begun working on the story. Filming is set to begin in early 2013 in Mexico.
Following the successful production and distribution strategy used in A Corazón Abierto in Mexico, Brothers & Sisters will include 80 60-minute episodes.
"Our commitment with Azteca Novelas is to develop high-quality content for our audience, not just in Mexico but in every country we distribute it to, and that's why we are so pleased to once again be joining this great company that is Disney to co-produce another one of its successful projects. Brothers & Sisters will definitely appeal to our entire audience," said Alberto Santini, GM of Azteca 13 and Azteca Novelas.
"Just like TV Azteca, we are very pleased to provide our Mexican audience with a local version of this renowned series. Its characteristics and attributes make it an ideal project for Mexico's broadcast TV," said Fernando Barbosa, SVP Disney Media Distribution & Production Latin America.
The local adaptation will be based on the series' US version, created by Jon Robin Baitz, which follows the life of the Walkers, a wealthy family in California whose life is filled with obstacles, romance, challenges, and even an untimely death that pushed them to their breaking point. Yet, they try to move on with their lives as normally as possible, following the heartbreaking loss of the family's patriarch.
